Healing my Relationship with the Physical World.

2 min read

I feel I need to preface a few things.  I have overcome addictions to cigarettes, hard drugs and booze.  I have fasted for periods of up to 3 days.  I regularly do intermittent fasting.  I hit the gym 3x/week and practice yoga daily. These are my reflections from my 3-Day Goddess Glow cleanse.

When you soften you see reality as it is truly, not as you need it to be to uphold the beliefs you have formed to keep you safe.

The tight perception of reality that only looks from the right angle, misses the vastness of possibility.

To encompass the left angle can sometimes mean an acceptance of the truth of ourselves that our ego cannot bear to face.

So we turn away and run back to our safe perceptions.

For so long my habits would hurt me.

What I felt was GIVING to myself ultimately was harming me.

Friday evening glass of wine that turned into a Saturday morning hangover.

My relationship with nurturing myself was toxic and the only way out was through strict discipline.

But in that disciplined space there was no room for softness.

This cleanse was not about restriction, it was about nurturing.

I felt the urge “ I NEED SOMETHING” rise from within me.  But that intense urge wanted SUGAR, it wanted SALT (in a previous life that urge would have wanted a cigarette, a bottle of wine…it would have screamed louder, been harder to be with).

Before it was more of a “hang on for dear life situation”.

There was not space for reflection or deeper understanding.

But now, in that moment of not jumping to fulfill this urge (which at this point in my life would have been an extremely buttery piece of toast) there was stillness and clarity and room for something else to emerge.

Perhaps more softness…
