Who is the Villain?

I was recently asked who is the Nemesis to my work in Intentions Yoga.  Who is the Villain?

And there definitely is one, but I don’t believe we can solve our problems by continuing to point at what is wrong.

My work in Intentions Yoga is to offer the solution.

To truly embody the alternative to what I feel is truly unjust and harmful to the human mind, body and spirit.

Now then.

If I had to sum it up in one word, the villain is Capitalism.  And not the making money part.  The 9-5 system that exists within the capitalist structure.

I believe it's also really important to preface that I do not blame one person or persons or particular organizations.  I believe we have all found ourselves here, out of no fault of our own continuing to perpetuate a way of existing simply because that is what has been handed to us by our parents and by their parents.

It is a system of extraction and it extracts from humans as it extracts every other resource on this planet.

Where humans are involved it becomes an extraction of time and energy for what is usually the least possible amount that they can legally pay.

Again, not because one person or group of people are bad but because this is common practice.

More importantly, what I need you to understand is that this system has trained us to put our wellness as a second priority.  And by default this prioritization has created an experience in our subconscious mind where we actually believe our wellness to be secondary to our output and production and this my friends is the reason why we are all sick, sad and burnt out and it's not getting better.

We have been trained to dishonor ourselves.

When you must ask an outside authority for permission to to take care of yourself in order to feel better…

When you feel guilt for taking a sick day…

This creates a feedback loop in your subconscious where you truly believe your wellness is not important.

When your shoulders hurt but you stay at your desk plugging away till 5pm

forget to go get a massage...

Or simply cannot fit it into the extra 2 hours you have each day to do the entire rest of your life during the week with 2 kids and meals to cook and a house to clean

and you are so exhausted you completely forget until 5 weeks later when your shoulder screams at you….this is not uncommon.

And this is exactly what is hard wiring into the subconscious mind of so many 9-5 corporate workers.

We are taught/trained/conditioned to believe that our bodies' needs are an inconvenience to production and we put them off.

We literally train our subconscious mind to believe our healing is not important and then what transpires in the conscious world is just that.

Only when we are finally pushed to the limit and cannot take it any more we may ask for long term sick leave.

Have our name show up in red in the morning emails and lose a portion of our salary.

Who can properly heal when  they can finally rest but possibly not afford food?

The system is not meant for our wellness, it is meant to extract as much as it can out of us and that comes at a cost.  A cost that we are experiencing now, past on from generations after generations.

A massive system that has churned and churned and has now pushed us as a society to the brink.

Pushed our collective nervous system into collapse.

 I cannot change this system.

What I have set out to do is to completely embody the solution.

Ultimately your employer, much like your parents are not to blame.

We have the capacity within us to heal our minds and bodies, to claim our sovereignty and take back our wellness.

This does not happen on a mass scale or with shouting or screaming or making angry demands.  All that action just takes more of your precious energy that has already been drained.

The real revolution is a quiet inner revolution.

You start the daily practices that support your energy, you become more clear in your mind, strong in your body and confident in your life and watch as the outer world begins to rearrange itself to mirror your inner world.

It has to - that is the law.

The task and mission I see before me at Intentions Yoga is to remind people how powerful they are.

To remind you how powerful you are.

You are not a victim to this system, anything or anyone.

I invite you to take back your power, claim your sovereignty and live an empowered purpose-filled life through discipline to the right habits.

The practice of yoga helps you to create the inner world that supports this shift and I would love to support you.  If you are ready, let's chat.
